Mid-week Local Walks
Non-members are cordially invited to join our gentle-paced midweek walks at birding sites close to Peterborough – they are a great opportunity to learn the skills of finding birds, fieldcraft and identification and to discover the wealth of great places on our doorstep.
Tuesday, October 14: Join Roger Teasdale as he explores Maxey Pits, the gravel extraction site that has produced a string or unusual bird sightings in recent months. Meet at the Etton Road area of hard standing (map ref: 140 076) at 10am.
Friday, October 24: Club chairman David Cromack will lead a walk looking at the wildfowl on Blatherwyke village pond (a noted site for Mandarin Ducks in the past) and then on to Deenethorpe to seek out Red Kites and other raptors. Park carefully just outside Blatherwyke on the minor road heading towards Kings Cliffe (pond is visible over stone wall). 10am start.
