An adult northern race Herring Gull (Larus argentatus argentatus) with an adult argenteus Herring Gull and adult Lesser Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus graellsii). Note the dark back which could lead to confusion with Yellow-legged Gull (Larus argentatus michahellis). An important feature to note is the large white tips to the primaries, which do not project far beyond the tail. michahellis would show an attenuated rear end with very small evenly spaced white tips to the closed wing.
