On 22 September strong northerly winds combined with heavy showers drove many seabirds inland including a remarkable flock of 25 Great Skuas seen over Werrington. A Fulmar near Wisbech and skuas at Grafham Water added to the picture near the Peterborough area. This Guillemot was probably caught up in the same weather and has been moving up the River Nene since until reaching the Dog in a Doublet sluice.

The overall dark plumage with blackish rather than brownish tones, complete dark breast band and rather extensive flank streaking indicate this is probably of the northern race aalge.
