An active bird, generally giving very good views. Quite a christening for the new Ian Presst hide and another in Ferry Meadows' incredible run of rarities this year.

It can be very difficult to distiguish first year's from non-breeding adults at this time of year. However this bird shows several good characteristics of an immature. All of the grey areas around the head are well spotted with white, the throat is whitish (greyer on adults), the dark margins around the white spots on the chest are rather indistinct and the bare parts rather dull.
