First seen on the High Wash on 1 April, it had moved to the west end of the RSPB reserve by 2nd and Lord's Holt by 3rd.

Distinctive black and white greater coverts and two missing primary feathers on the right wing prove that this is the same bird that wintered futher south in Cambridgeshire at Cottenham Long Drove. It first appeared there on 27 August 2002 and was last seen on 24 February 2003 before making appearances at the Cam Washes, Fen Drayton Gravel Pits and the Ouse Washes. Pictures of this bird at Cottenham are available on the Cambridgeshire Bird Club website.
