27 Ferry Meadows Country Park 5 Green Sandpiper, 1 Common Sandpiper, 46 Teal, 2 Pochard, 13 Tufted Duck, 13 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Common Tern, 1 Tawny Owl (on island in Overton Lake), 6+ Swallow, 2 Green Woodecker, 1 Kingfisher, many Willow Warblers, 3+ Reed Warbler and 1 Sedge Warbler. 1 Wheatear and large group of Pied Wagtails on the mound.   Baston & Langtoft GP 2 Teal, 7 Red-crested Pochard and Sand Martins still entering nest holes.

24 Prior’s Fen A superb adult Grass Snake in the dyke near Stone Bridge Corner. 1 Snipe, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Redshank, 2-3 Ringed Plover, 5+ Golden Plover, 1 Little Grebe, 2 Ruddy Duck, 30 Shoveler, 2 Pochard, 20+ Tufted Duck, 20 Coot, 18 Mute Swan, 10 Mallard, 5-6 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 1 male + 1 imm Marsh Harrier, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 3 Reed Bunting and a few Reed Warbler singing a bit. 2 juv Shelduck over. 1 Black Swan. 525 Mallard over apparently heading for North Bank GP. 20 Prior’s Fen 320+ Lapwing feeding in stubble field by road with 11 Ruff, 1 Snipe, 4 Common Sand, 6 Ringed Plover (2 ad, 4 juv), 11 Teal, 9 Shoveler, 12 Mallard, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Grey Heron and plenty of Reed and Sedge Warblers. Steve Dudley

15 Prior’s Fen Morning: 25 Ruff, 2 juvenile Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Ringed Plover, 1 juvenile Dunlin, 2 Redshank, 1 Quail calling, 3 juvenile Marsh Harrier, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, 1 Turtle Dove, 1 Tree Pipit flying E high calling and c.50 Yellow Wagtail. George Walthew

  Nene Washes - Eldernell 6 Marsh Harrier, 4 Hobby (2ad, 1st sum, juv), 6 Swift, 40+ Sand Martin, 2 Barn Owl, 1 Greenshank.  
  Ferry Meadows Country Park 2 Curlew flew SW over Orton Wistow. Steady passage of Hirundines, mainly Swallow & House Martin numbering in the hundred also 12+ Sand Martin through and 50+ Swifts. Visitor Services
7   An adult Redwing picked up injured at the entrance to Ferry Meadows alive, although it expired shortly afterwards. Probably female as there was the signs of an old brood patch and a lot of new feather growth.  
  Bainton Pits 1 Bullfinch, 2 Common Sandpiper, a possible Goldeneye, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Green Woodpecker. Ed Simpson

  Nene Washes - Eldernell 2 Marsh Harriers, 2 Barn Owls, 3 Tree Sparrows, 3 Turtle Doves, Kingfisher, Green Woodpecker, 2 Common Gulls, 5 or 6 Lesser Black-backed Gulls. Also a pair of large unidentified falcons at Eldernell mid afternoon, reported soaring over the decoy. The birds were thought to be almost Saker-sized. Gordon Hamlett

    A Golden Plover species seen flying over with c.650+ Lapwings at 2.45pm. The plover seemed very slim bodied and slim winged. Also 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Marsh Harrier and c.220 Swift. Steve Dudley
