Scarce resident breeder and passage migrant. Although an uncommon resident breeder, this delightful bird is obviously one of our members’ favourites, considering the large number of reports received. Larger counts included 19 at Woodwalton Fen NNR on 2 Jan (SPD), ten juveniles ringed at Ferry Meadows CP CES site on 7 Sep (CHu, KAF) and nine at Ferry Meadows CP on 17 Nov (CP). Evidence of breeding or young birds received from Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR, Elton, Ferry Meadows CP, Fletton BP, Morborne Hill, Orton BP and Stibbington GP. |

Scarce resident breeder and passage migrant. Records were received from 40 sites. Notable counts included eight at Ferry Meadows CP on 3 Jan (SPD) with 11 there 15 Jan (SPD) and 14 (three pairs each with four young) at Ferry Meadows CP 20 Jun (TD), 12 at Woodwalton Fen NNR on 2 Mar and eight at Stibbington GP 8 Dec (BHS). Three in Eldernell Decoy in September was a rare washland sighting. |

Scarce resident breeder and passage migrant. This easily identifiable species receives plenty of attention from local birdwatchers. First winter period records from (singles unless otherwise stated) Orton Mere (three), Southey Wood, Longthorpe (four), Paston, Bainton GP (three), Thorpe Wood, Elton, Southorpe Paddock NR (six), Barnack-Wittering road (three), Thornhaugh (four), Oxey Wood (three), Ferry Meadows CP (two), Crown Lakes CP (two), Hampton Lakes (two), Marholm, Morborne Hill (three) and Pilsgate SF (two). During the breeding season, recorded most of the above sites plus Bainton GP, Orton Brimbles (two), Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR, Orton Malborne (two), King's Dyke NR (two), Deeping Lakes NR, Orton BP, Bedford Purlieus NNR and Elton. The only report of young were four juveniles at Morborne Hill 9 Aug (BHS). In autumn and the second winter period, recorded from many of the above sites plus Stilton (two), Monk's Wood NNR (max 10 on 24 Sep) (RBr), Bretton (two) and Maxey GP. Counts of seven at Ferry Meadows CP 25 Sep (MJW), six at Southey Wood 15 Dec (TW, DW) and five at Bainton GP 31 Dec (AD) are also of note. |

Widespread but scarce resident. The recent run of widespread and frequent records continues, with birds reported from Southey Wood, Ferry Meadows CP, Longthorpe, Market Deeping, Belham Wood, Short Wood, Morborne Hill and Milton Park. The maximum count for any one locality was ten at Southey Wood 18 Nov. |

Records received from Alwalton, America Farm, Bainton GP, Baston, Castor Hanglands NNR, Crown Lakes CP, Cuckoo Hollow, Deeping Mere, Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR, Elton, Ferry Meadows CP, Langtoft/West End GP, Longthorpe, Morborne Hill, Orton BP, Orton Mere and Southey Wood. A count of 16 at Castor Hanglands NNR on 29 Oct (RAs) was particularly noteworthy. |
