migrant and common winter migrant. Whilst under-recorded, this species is widespread and common throughout the area. Larger counts included 57 at Eldernell Pits in Jan (RSPB), 100+ Woodwalton Fen NNR on 19 Feb (MH), 70+ at Crowtree (Farcet Fen) on 10 Apr (SPD), 60 at Orton Southgate on 11 Nov (GW) and 50 along the Nene Valley Railway between Ferry Meadows CP and Castor on 7 Nov (DG). |

Reported from 49 localities with notable counts including 100 at Morborne Hill on 10 Nov, up to 60 at Baston Fen, Eldernell and Holme Lode Farm on 20-21 Jan, 50 at Padholme PS on 10 Jan and 50 at Halfway Farm, Holme Fen on 1 Mar (all BHS). No breeding reports received. |

and winter migrant. This widespread and abundent species is another that goes under-recorded. Larger counts as follows: 40 at Thorney Dyke 11 Jan (GRH); 55 at Upton 17 Jan (PJP); 745 on the Nene Washes 29 Jan with 190 there 19 Feb (RSPB); 25 at Newborough 21 Feb; 50 on 10 Oct (DB); 11 at Morborne Hill included three singing birds (BHS); 32 at Deeping High Bank 25 Feb (TW); 25 at Deeping Lakes NR 24 Oct (TW); 50 at Southorpe 5 Nov (NC); and 40-50 at Flag Fen 13 Nov (BHS, SPD). The only confirmed breeding record came from Dogsthorpe (DW). |

Common resident. Large counts of this common and widespread species were as follows: 300 at King's Cliffe on 6 Jan, 80 at Baston Fen Farm on 6 Feb, 155 in three flocks at Newborough on 20 Oct and 100 at Milton Park on 29 Dec. |
