Rare passage migrant and casual breeder. Two adult summer-plumaged birds were present at Fletton BP on 8 Jul (BHS). The next record was of a single winter-plumaged bird there on 10 Sep (BHS). This sighting heralded an excellent series of records over the next two months, with 3-4 birds present at three locations. The winter-plumaged bird was joined by another on 16 Sep (BHS) and the two remained at Fletton BP from 16-28 Sep, with one bird remaining until 11 Oct. The single bird seen at Crown Lakes CP on 25 Oct (SCo, ALi) was presumably one of the Fletton birds. A winter-plumaged bird was present on Dandridge’s Lake at Deeping Lakes NR between 12 Sep-23 Nov (WH et al). A single bird was also recorded along Deeping High Bank on 29 Oct (WB, RB). |
