2003	Common passage migrant. First record came from Etton GP on 13 Apr (AA, PA). Peak counts during the first half of the year were 10 birds on the Nene Washes on 20 Apr (RSPB). Elsewhere, 1-2 birds at Ferry Meadows CP during April (DG, HB) with a single there on 31 May (HB) and a single bird at Deeping Lakes NR on 4 May (MO). During autumn migration, passage on the Nene Washes was concentrated on High Wash where unseasonably low water levels created a sizeable wader scrape (RSPB); up to six birds seen regularly during August with 14 there on 26 Aug (RSPB, KAF, SPD). At Prior’s Fen GP, up to nine birds regularly reported during August with a peak count of 12+ on 14 Aug (BHS). Elsewhere, 1-2 birds recorded from a further 13 locations. A single at Prior’s Fen GP on 12 Oct (SPD) was the last of the year.
2002	Common passage migrant. First seen at Dog-in-a-Doublet on 14 Apr (MF). The peak counts were of four birds present on the Nene Washes on 6-7 May (RSPB) and four at Deeping Lakes NR on 11 May (TW et al), with three there on 10 Aug (DW, TW) and three at Ferry Meadows CP on 1-3 Jun (MJW, KAF). A single had returned to Ferry Meadows CP by 4 Jul and three were present again on 19-21 Jul (MJW, TD). Up to two birds also seen at Etton GP, Flag Fen, Fletton BP, King’s Dyke NR, Maxey GP, Nene Washes and Deeping Lakes NR. The final sighting of the year was a single at Dog-in-a-Doublet on 22 Sep (SPD).
2001	Common passage migrant. Left: Peak monthly counts of Greenshank on the Nene Washes A single bird on the Nene Washes (Eldernell) from 26–30 Apr (GRH, SPD et al) with three on the Nene Washes (High Wash on 1 May (SPD). A single at Ferry Meadows CP on 7 May (MJW) and up to 10 birds on the Nene Washes 10th with 1–4 birds present there to 11 Jun (RSPB et al). Singles at Ferry Meadows CP 26 Jun (TD) and Welland Bank GP 8 Jul (AD), with 1–3 on the Nene Washes from 13th, reaching an autumn peak of ten on 9 Aug (RSPB et al). Between 1–3 birds regularly recorded from Prior’s Fen GP between 17 Jul–3 Oct (SPD, BHS, GW). Up to four birds still present on the Nene Washes 14 Sep with two on 17th (RSPB). Singles at Ferry Meadows CP 6 Oct (MJW) and Maxey GP 7th (BT).
2000	Uncommon migrant. The first was at Eldernell 18 Apr. The Nene Washes had a daily passage of 1-6 birds from 25 Apr-14 May with a maximum of eight on 8 May, then one from 2-5 Jun, three on 10 Jun, and one on 12-13 Jun. Elsewhere in spring, two were at both Orton and King's Dyke BPs, with singles at Baston Fen NR 30 Apr and 14 May, Hampton 14 May and Baston & Langtoft GP 7th, 21st and 23 May. During Jul-Aug, 1-8 were seen daily at the Nene Washes, with a peak of ten 21 Aug and two 1-2 Sep. Baston & Langtoft GP had 1-4 from 2 Jul-17 Sep with peaks of eight 31 Jul and five 2 Sep. Welland Bank GP had 1-2 30 Jul-9 Sep and three on 12 Aug. Elsewhere, two at Langtoft West End GP 23 Jul and a single on 28 Aug. Singles were at Fletton BP 16 Jul, Ferry Meadows CP various dates from 19 Jul-3 Sep, Hampton Lakes 6-7 Aug, 13 Aug and 13 Sep, Stowe scrape 25 Aug and Orton BP 3 Sep. A single at Nene Washes 2 Oct, with the last there on 12 Nov.
1999	Uncommon migrant. In spring at the Nene Washes, singles were noted daily 28 Apr-23 May, with a peak passage of 2-4 per day in the first week of May. In the Hampton area, three were seen 30 Apr and 2 May with one 4 May and single at CEGB Reservoir 30 Apr. During the autumn, passage birds were noted at Baston & Langtoft GP on 14 dates 23 Jul-12 Sep with a maximum of eight on 26 Aug. Singles were seen daily at the Nene Washes 12 Jul-25 Sep, with a peak passage during the second week of August. A late bird was there 10 Oct. Elsewhere, Hampton held one 27 Aug and two 2 Oct and Crowtree Reservoir (Farcet Fen) one 4 Sep and two 10 Oct.
1998	Common migrant. Extreme dates were at Baston & Langtoft GP on 10 May, with three there on 30 Aug (TW), and Fletton BP on 22 Sep (GW). One or two birds were at Ferry Meadows CP from 3 Aug-9 Sep, with four on 8 Sep (RAH). Nene Washes: Spring passage commenced with singles on 22nd and 25 Apr and 1 May, three on 9 May followed by up to 12 at March Farmers on 15 May, and five there on 21 May. Up to five daily were along the washes into and through June, with no clear gap between spring and autumn passage, peaking at seven on 9 Jul, with five on 28 Jul. Up to five were noted from 10-24 Aug and one remained to 30 Sep.
