2003
Common resident breeder, scarce passage migrant and scarce winter migrant.
The peak count was of 1,800+ birds at Deeping Lakes NR on 9 Oct (KAF, SPD). Other roosts were noted at Milton Park, where up to 200 birds were seen. Birds showing characters of the eastern race were present on three days with a single at Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR on 25 Feb (MAW) with two at the nearby Dogsthorpe Tip on 26 Feb (BHS). A single was at Eye Tip on 11 Dec (JO, BM, RH).

2002
Common resident breeder, scarce passage migrant and scarce winter migrant.
A marked increase in records (from last year's five records), with birds reported from 24 locations. Notable counts as follows: 300 over to roost at Dogsthorpe on 2 Feb (DW), 300 over towards Milton Park to roost on 16 Dec (DG) and 750 over to roost at Elton on 22 Dec (BHS). No reports of breeding.

2001
Common resident breeder, scarce passage migrant and scarce winter migrant.
Only five records were received - a count of ‘hundreds’ from
Milton Park 6 Jan (MJW), two at Morborne Hill 21 Feb (BHS), 16 at Nene Washes 16 Sep (RSPB), 50 at Stilton 15 Nov (JD) and 300 over Orton BP 26 Nov (BHS).

2000
Common winter visitor and uncommon resident.
The only records of note for this species were 300+ at Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR on 22 Jan (with a single bird showing characteristics of the eastern race) (DP), and 300+ at
Morborne Hill on 1 Nov.

1999
Common winter visitor and uncommon resident.
Few records received. At Haddon, 300 flying north to roost on 26 Oct was the largest count.


1998
Common resident.
The only record was of approximately eight pairs breeding on Milton Golf Course. During the winter months, large numbers of Jackdaws and Rooks could be seen flying over Ferry Meadows CP and Bretton towards Marholm where they roosted.
