Scarce passage migrant.
The sole record was of a first winter bird at Hampton North Lake on 22 Jan (BHS).

2002

Five records of single birds, all on the Nene Washes. Singles on 14 Jan (RSPB), 10 Feb (JT), 13 Feb (RSPB), a summer-plumaged bird on 18 May (RSPB, WB, MW, BM) and a single on 3 Nov (RSPB, SPD).

2001
Scarce passage migrant.
An excellent run of winter records from the Nene Washes with two on 15 Jan (March Farmers), eight flying east 16 Jan and two east 13 Feb (RSPB). In May, a single on the Nene Washes 3 May (RSPB).

2000
Rare migrant.
The first was at the Nene Washes on 18 Apr (JO)
. A light passage was noted in early May, with two summer-plumaged birds at Ferry Meadows CP 3 May (DG), an adult summer bird at the Nene Washes (DP), two there on 5 May, and an adult summer at Hampton Lakes 6 May (DP). There were no autumn records.
1999
Rare migrant.
The only record came from
Hampton Lakes, with a bird in summer plumage there on 2 May (NC, AF, DP).

1998
Vagrant.
A bird at Baston & Langtoft GP on 28 Mar (AFB) was only the second for the Deepings area.
Nene Washes: Two birds on 26 Oct was the only record.
