2003
Common resident breeder.
Rather few records this year. 30 seen at Woodston Industry 5 May (BD) was the peak count, with birds recorded at a further 24 sites. Other high counts include 17 at Eye Tip 7 Dec (SPD) and 14 at King's Dyke 5 Jan (GW). Birds were noted roosting at Eldernell in the centre of the wash, with up to 20 birds present.

2002
Common resident breeder.
A common species in the Peterborough area. The highest single count was of 36 at Ferry Meadows CP on 7 Mar (DG). Up to 30 birds were attracted to the feeding station at
Eldernell during Jan-Feb (RSPB).

2001
Common resident breeder.
This is another under-recorded common species. The highest single count was 25 at Deeping Mere 3 Jan (PJP) with 18 on the Nene Washes on 6 Feb (RSPB) and 15 there on 12 Feb (RSPB).

2000
Common resident.
Under-recorded, with the only records of more than two birds coming from Bainton GP, where there were eight on 16 Jan,
18 at McCain’s BP on 16 Jan, 20 at Nene Washes on 15 Dec, 20 at Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR on 13 Feb, and 26 at Stillwell Pit on 15 Sep.

1999
Common resident.
Maximum counts were 14 at Maxey GP on 14 Aug and 12 at Orton Mere on 13 Mar.


1998
Common resident.
The largest flocks were 34 to roost at
Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR on 17 Jan (ARF), 17 at Caldecote Wood on 17 Jan (ARF), 17 at Stillwell Pit on 12 Mar (ARF) and 12 at Ferry Meadows CP on 22 Apr (GRH). Eight pairs bred at Milton Golf Course and there were four pairs in Yaxley village.
Nene Washes: Highest wash counts were 26 on 15 Feb, 16 on 15 Mar, and 15 on 8 Nov. Bred at Ring's End, Eldernell Pits, Common Wash, High Wash and at Stanground.
