Widespread but localised common breeder. Occurs locally. Recorded in Aversley Wood, Bedford Purlieus NNR, Bluebell Wood, Burghley Park, Castor Hanglands NNR, Ferry Meadows CP, Holme Fen NNR, Monk's Wood NNR, Old Sulehay, Simon's Wood, Thornhaugh and Woodcroft. The largest single count was of three at Bluebell Wood on 17 Apr (WB). Again, there were no confirmed breeding records, possibly due to local birders' concentration on wetland sites during the spring. |

Widespread but localised common breeder. The peak count during the year was of five at Aversley Wood on 22 Nov (KW). Recorded at Apethorpe, Bedford Purlieus NNR, Belham Wood, Ben Johnson Pit, Helpston, Bluebell Wood, Burghley Park, Castor Hanglands NNR, Ferry Meadows CP, Grimeshaw Wood, Monk's Wood NNR, Old Sulehay, Oxey Wood and Thorpe Wood. No confirmed breeding reports were received this year. |

Recorded from the following localities: Hayes Wood one on 9 Jan (PJP); Castor Hanglands NNR one singing 25 Jan (PJP); Thorpe Wood one on 16 Feb (MW); Bluebell Wood, Ferry Meadows CP two on 1 Jan and 3 Jan (CH), two on 17-18 Feb (GRH), 30 Mar and 31 Mar (CHa), four on 16 Apr (GRH), one on 3 May (GW), one on 10 May (GRH); one heard 23 May (PJP); Mucklands Wood two recently-fledged birds (the only confirmed breeding) 17 Jun (CD); Milton Golf Course two pairs on breeding territory (WEW). There was only one record of this species in the second half of the year, from Hayes Wood on 2 Jul (PJP). |

Uncommon, widespread resident. With the exception of two records of several birds in Bedford Purlieus NNR on 24 Sep and a single on 20 Dec at Milton Golf Course, all records refer to the spring period, being recorded in Ferry Meadows CP, Belham Wood, Short Wood, Bluebell Wood, Thorpe Wood and Castor Hanglands NNR. |

Uncommon, widespread resident. Most records received from Bluebell Wood, where two pairs were noted in courtship on 18 Apr. Also seen at Burghley Park, Bedford Purlieus NNR, Southwick Wood, Elton, Archer's Wood and Castor Hanglands NNR. |

Common resident. There were six or seven pairs on Milton Golf Course. Two pairs were reported from Bluebell Wood and a pair at Caldecote Wood and Casewick. Single birds were noted at Mucklands Wood and Elton Park. |
