2003	Rare migrant breeder and rare passage migrant. As in 2002, a poor year with again records from only three locations. A single bird was heard calling at Woodwalton Fen NNR on 1-2 Jun (SPD, MW) and one on Low Wash, Nene Washes, on 13 Jun (RSPB). A single bird was heard at Thurlby Fen from 18 Jul to 3 Aug (VF et al).
2002	Rare migrant breeder and rare passage migrant. A relatively poor year with records from only four sites. Single birds heard calling from farmland adjacent to Woodwalton Fen NNR on 11 May (JT) and again on 15th (SPD). Also at White Fen, Benwick, on 31 May (RES) and 2 Jun (SPD), at Thurlby Fen on 14 Jun (VF) and at the north end of Black Bush Drove, Whittlesey, on 14 Jul (BM).
2001	Rare migrant breeder and rare passage migrant. A moderately good year, with calling birds recorded from six different sites. The first of the year was heard calling from a pea field at White Fen, Benwick, on 20 Jun (RES), with up to four calling from Hod Fen, Yaxley 23–25 Jun (KWo, SPD, MW), and a single bird heard calling from a barley field by Oxney Road Industrial Estate 30 Jun (SPD). In Jul, a single bird was heard calling on the Nene Washes (RSPB reserve) on 15th (RSPB) and on the High Wash on 20th (RSPB). A single bird calling from Thurlby Fen 23 Jul (PJP) was the only record from the north of the area. A single, late calling bird took up residence at Prior’s Fen GP from 15–23 Aug (GW).
2000	Rare summer visitor and migrant. A very poor year, with just one noted in a pea field at King's Delph on 18 Jun (GW).
1999	Rare summer visitor and migrant. On the Nene Washes, the first birds were two singing males at March Farmers 11 May and a single on the RSPB reserve 15-20 May. Two were at Thurlby Fen 6 Jun (EJR) with one there on 10 Aug (EJR). Singles were at Crowtree (Farcet Fen) on 26 Jun and 24 Jul (AL), and one flushed during tractor work 27 Sep was the last noted.
1998	Rare summer visitor. Single birds sang at Thurlby Fen on 4 May, 25 Jul, 29 Jul and 2 Aug (AFB), Woodwalton Fen NNR 15-16 May and North Fen 26 Jun (CBR).
