2003	Common and widespread passage migrant. All reports came between April and October, with numbers increasing during July and August, the first on the Nene Washes on 16 Apr (SG). The peak count was of nine birds together at Dog-in-a-Doublet on 25 Jul (RSPB). Up to three birds regularly reported at Prior’s Fen GP with seven there on 6 Aug (BHS). At Deeping Lakes NR, up to four birds were seen between Apr-Oct with six seen there on 19 Jul (SPD, KAF, RB, WB). Five birds were seen together at Ferry Meadows CP on 9 Aug (MJW), with four at Maxey GP on 15 Aug (BHS). Up to three were also reported from a further 17 locations across the area. The last bird of the year was on 28 Oct at Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR (RB, WB).
2002	Common and widespread passage migrant. First record from Padholme PS on 14 Mar (BHS). Notable counts included 3-5 birds present at Deeping Lakes NR during Jul and Aug (MO), five at Fletton BP on 18 Jul and 25 Jul (BHS) and four at Prior’s Fen GP on 4 Aug (SG, MW). Between 1-3 birds regularly reported from Baston & Langtoft GP, Etton GP, Ferry Meadows CP, King’s Dyke NR, Maxey GP, Nene Washes, Orton Brimbles and Tanholt GP. Last seen at Prior’s Fen GP with two on 5 Oct and one on 6 Oct (SPD).
2001	Common and widespread passage migrant. A single was present in the Deepings during the first winter period and was recorded from Langtoft West End GP 6 Jan and 23 Feb (AD) and from Stowe scrape 8 Jan and 25 Feb (BT). The first migrant was recorded from Deeping Lakes NR 8 Apr (MHo), with further passage birds recorded up to 19 May from Baston & Langtoft GP, Deeping Lakes NR (max. four on 4 May) (TW), Ferry Meadows CP, Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR, King’s Dyke NR (max. two on 16 May) (GW), Nene Washes (max. three on 15 May) (RSPB). The first autumn record came from Deeping Lakes NR 8 Jul (AD), with two birds there on 13th and an autumn maximum of eight on 21st–23rd (TW). Autumn records also received from Prior’s Fen GP (max. three on 21 Aug) (GW), Bainton GP, Dog-in-a-Doublet (River Nene), Nene Washes (max. four on 9 Aug) (RSPB), Baston & Langtoft GP, Ferry Meadows CP (max. two on 5 Sep) (TD) and Hampton Lakes. The last autumn record was at Deeping Lakes NR 9 Sep (TW). A single second winter record from Langtoft West End GP 16 Dec (TW).
2000	Widespread migrant. The first were at Ferry Meadows CP and Orton BP 16 Apr. Ferry Meadows CP had regular sightings during 19 Apr-14 May, with three on 8 May. A single was at Stowe scrape 7 May, one at Baston & Langtoft GP 10 May, Hampton Lakes 12 May and 4 Jun, two at Orton BP 13 May and singles at King's Dyke BP 13 May and Deeping Lakes NR 22 May. One was at Hampton Lakes 14 Jun. On return passage, the Dog-in-a-Doublet had 1-3 during August and from 27 Jul-28 Sep, with peaks of 16 on 30 Jul and 12 on 1 Aug. Hampton Lakes had 2-3 between 16 Jul-27 Aug. Deeping Lakes NR had 1-3 from 15 Jul-30 Sep, with four on 18 Jul and a single on 15 Oct. Baston & Langtoft GP had singles on five dates with three 29 Jul, 31 Jul and 4 Aug. One to two birds were at Hampton Lakes on five dates, Ferry Meadows CP on three, with singles at the Nene Washes on eight dates, Langtoft West End GP on four dates and Orton BP on two. Eldernell Farm reservoir held three 30 Jul, with two at Fletton BP 24 Aug and one at King’s Dyke NR 25 Sep. There were unusual wintering records of two birds at Stowe scrape on 10 Dec (WB) and a single bird at Deeping showground on 31 Dec (GC).
1999	Widespread migrant. The first bird was at Hampton Lakes 23 Apr. In May, 1-2 seen there on six dates between 2-19 May. Ferry Meadows CP held two birds 9 May with singles at Woodnewton Mill 9 May and Baston & Langtoft GP 15 May. A night migrant was heard 18 May flying over Stanground. The first returning bird was at Ferry Meadows CP 28 Jun, with a single there 1-2 Jul. Four were present 22 Jul and singles 12 Aug and 19-20 Aug. The best site for this species was Baston & Langtoft GP, with 1-7 birds seen 23 Jul-13 Oct, with a peak of eight on 6 Aug. Up to four were seen 10 Oct and one 12 Oct. At the Nene Washes, two were on the tidal river 20 Jul and one on 7 Aug. Three were at McCain's BP 24 Jul with singles noted elsewhere at Crowtree Reservoir (Farcet Fen), Stilton Fen storm reservoir and Fletton BP.
1998	Common migrant. The first northbound birds were two at Ferry Meadows CP on 20 Apr, with the last also there on 23 May, with other records coming from Deeping Lakes NR, Tallington GP, Baston & Langtoft GP and Orton BP. The first returning bird was at Baston & Langtoft GP on 12 Jul, with six there on 6 Aug and the last at Fletton BP on 9 Sep. Other autumn birds were noted at Dog-in-a-Doublet, Ferry Meadows CP, Deeping Lakes NR and Orton BP. Nene Washes: Recorded mostly from the tidal River Nene, with up to three daily between 23 Apr-24 May. Singles were seen 1-3 Jul, with three on 21 Jul and one from 10-11 Aug.
