2003
Common resident breeder.
Another very common, widespread resident and frequent garden visitor and breeder (usually in nestboxes). A brood of four young was reared in a cavity of a house at Crowtree, Farcet Fen; the first fledgling to emerge on 15 Jun landed on the observer's head (SPD)! The biggest count was of 20 at Lynch Wood on 17 Jan (DG) and a large number was among 50 Blue and Great Tits going to roost at Aversley Wood on 6 Jan (KWo).

2002
Common resident breeder.
A familiar species to all birdwatchers, this species remains under-recorded. The highest counts during the year were of seven at Lound Wood in early Apr (BTO), six at Raveley Wood on 17 Apr (BTO), seven at Morborne Hill on 28 Sep (SPD) and a minimum of eight birds at
Crowtree, Farcet Fen, from 21 Nov to 12 Dec (SPD).

2001
Common resident breeder .
Another common, widespread species which is rarely recorded. The maximum count was seven at
Morborne Hill 21 Feb (BHS).

2000
Common resident.
Twelve on 31 Dec in Longthorpe was a notable record

1998
Common resident.
Widespread. There was a poor start to the breeding season on Milton Golf Course with two broods dead in the nest.
Nene Washes: Two pairs bred at Eldernell Pits, also at Ring's End and the counter drain.
