Common resident breeder. Reports were received from 28 locations during 2003. At least seven were seen at Woodwalton Fen NNR on 19 Feb (MH); four were seen in a tit flock at Deeping Lakes NR on 8 Aug (WB). Signs of breeding were noted at Holme Fen NNR, Stibbington GP and Castor; two were regular/resident in the Eldernell Decoy and Lord's Holt (RSPB). |

Common resident breeder. This secretive species is often overlooked and consequently under-recorded. Reports were received throughout the year, although most fell into the two winter periods. The highest count was of five at Woodwalton Fen NNR on 1 Jan (SC), with smaller numbers reported from a further 24 locations. One was trapped and ringed at Ferry Meadows CP on 22 Jul (CHu). |

Common resident breeder . Widely recorded to the end of March, thereafter from 14 Aug to the end of the year. The maximum count was five caught and ringed at Bainton GP 14 Aug (ES). Smaller numbers were reported from Southey Wood, Hayes Wood, Baston Fen NR, Upton, Morborne Hill, Deeping St James, Thorpe Wood, Pilsgate SF, Bluebell Wood/Ferry Meadows CP, Grimeshaw Wood, Pinnards Spinney and Holme Fen NNR. Two pairs bred at Milton Golf Course (WEW). |

Recorded throughout the year at the following locations: Bainton GP, Market Deeping, Ferry Meadows CP, Deeping St James, West Deeping, Short Wood, Belham Wood, Bedford Purlieus NNR, Elton, Woodwalton Fen NNR, Helpston and Morborne Hill. All records refer to ones and twos, with the exception of seven in the southern section of Woodwalton Fen NNR on 16 Nov, and six on Milton Golf Course on 12 Mar. |

Common resident. A pair at Milton Golf Course raised a brood of six young. Other birds were reported in ones or twos from Stowe, Baston Fen NR, Thurlby Slipe, Langtoft West End GP, Peterborough Cathedral, Southey Wood, Baston & Langtoft GP, Deeping Lakes NR, Bluebell Wood and Stibbington church. Nene Washes: One in Eldernell Decoy on 5 Jan was the only record. |
