2003
Scarce migrant breeder and scarce passage migrant.
The first record of the year came from Ferry Meadows CP on 15 Apr (RB, WB, DG, BHS). From this date, birds were recorded in suitable woodland and scrub habitat until mid-July. The peak count was of at least six birds singing at Bedford Purlieus NNR on 8 May (BHS). No late dates were noted, with the last record two singing at Ferry Meadows CP on 7 Jul (MW).

2002
Scarce migrant breeder and scarce passage migrant.
The first record came from Ferry Meadows CP on 10 Apr (GW); this is the earliest record of Garden Warbler in the area in recent years. Reported from 17 sites across the area with 16 singing in the central section of Woodwalton Fen NNR on 8 May (BHS), 12 singing at Ferry Meadows CP on 11 May (MJW) and five at Castor Hanglands NNR on 16 May (BHS). The last record was on 2 Sep at Ferry Meadows CP (BHS).

2001
Scarce migrant breeder and scarce passage migrant.
Orton BP was also the site of the first Garden Warbler 26 Apr (SPD) – as with Whitethoat, ten days later than 2000). From late April to late May, birds heard/seen at Bainton GP 28 Apr (AD) and 29 Apr (SPD), four on 30 Apr (AD); Ben Johnson Pit 5 May (TW); Ferry Meadows CP three on 29 Apr (SPD, MJW), at least six on 5 May (MJW), one on 10 May (GW); Bedford Purlieus NNR two on 12 May, one on 13 May (BHS); Bainton GP 2-3 on 31 May (BHS); and Newborough two on 30 May (DB).
No birds then reported until 8 Sep at Ferry Meadows CP (GH), where the last record for the area came on 17 Sep (SPD).

2000
Uncommon summer visitor.
Earliest date was 16 Apr at The Mere, Deeping Lakes NR, with singles noted thereafter at the following locations:
Bainton GP, Drysides BP, Baston & Langtoft GP, Castor Hanglands NNR, Old Sulehay and Orton BP. A total of 12 reported at Ferry Meadows CP on 30 Apr (SPD) was exceptional.

1999
Uncommon summer visitor.
A particularly early record on 28 Mar at Morborne Hill may have been a wintering bird (CG). The next birds noted were on 26 Apr at
Orton BP and Pinnard's Spinney. The last record was at Ferry Meadows CP on 16 Sep (DG). Other records came from Fotheringhay and Castor Hanglands NNR.

1998
Common summer visitor.
Earliest record was at Ferry Meadows CP on 7 May (GRH). Birds were noted at
Old Sulehay on 17 May (BHS), between Morborne and Warmington on 21 Jun (BHS), two in Longthorpe on 8 Aug (GRH) and two at Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR on 18 Aug (DS).
Nene Washes: One territory at Eldernell Pits was the first in four years. One was at Stanground on 18 May.
