Common migrant breeder and common passage
migrant. The first record of the year came from Woodwalton Fen NNR on 7 Apr (BHS) with the last bird seen at Stanground Wash on 10 Dec (SPD, KAF). Peak counts included 15 at Drysides BP on 16 April (GW), 15 at Baston Fen NR on 25 Apr (VF) and 12+ at Ferry Meadows CP on 20 Apr (GRH). A juvenile was ringed at Ferry Meadows CP on 7 Sep (CHu). |

Common migrant breeder and common passage
migrant. The first records were of singles on 4 Apr from Ferry Meadows CP (GD, MJW) and the Nene Washes (RSPB), with a widespread arrival from 18 Apr. Reports of more than five birds were received from Crowland, Ferry Meadows CP, Thurlby Slipe and Yaxley BP. The Nene Washes held 112 singing males. The last record was at King’s Dyke NR on 7 Oct (ABu). |

Common migrant breeed and passage migrant. The first record of this widespread species was at Baston & Langtoft GP 7 Apr (TW), nearly a week later than 2000. Birds were recorded at Bainton GP from 8 Apr (BT) and Ferry Meadows CP from 9 Apr (MJW). The latter site was host to the largest count of at least 20 on 29 Apr (GRH). The only other double-figure count was of 15 birds at Orton BP on 26 Apr (GW). Other counts of eight birds at Ramsey Fen 20 May (RES), seven at Prior’s Fen GP 31 Aug (SPD) and five at Baston Fen NR (5 May, WB). Birds were also recorded from White Fen, Benwick (RES), Deeping Lakes NR (TW) and Nene Washes (RSPB). The latest record was more than a week later than 2000, a single bird at Orton BP 2 Oct (SPD). |

Common summer visitor. Early and late dates for this species were 1 Apr at Bainton GP and 23 Sep at Nene Washes. Also recorded at Eldernell, King’s Dyke NR, Orton BP, Conington airfield, Kate's Bridge, Baston & Langtoft GP and Dog-in-a-Doublet. A total of 141 pairs bred on the Nene Washes. Elsewhere, only recorded in significant numbers at Ferry Meadows CP and Bainton GP, where 12 birds were noted at each site on 19 Apr and 1 May respectively. |

Common summer visitor. First returning bird was noted at Orton BP on 4 Apr. The latest date was of a single bird at Bainton GP on 20 Sep (BHS). Birds were recorded from Bainton GP, Baston & Langtoft GP, Orton BP, Ferry Meadows CP, Nene Washes, King’s Dyke NR and Castor Hanglands NNR. c180 territories recorded on Nene Washes (CBR). |

Common summer visitor. The first and last records came from Baston & Langtoft GP on 5 Apr and 31 Jul (TW). There were 14 singing birds at Ferry Meadows CP on 7 May (GRH). Other birds were reported from Baston Fen NR. Nene Washes: Present between 8 Apr and 15 Sep. Breeding in much reduced numbers as no habitat available at the crucial time, with 25 on the reserve, six on High Wash, 19 on Eldernell Wash and 12 at Eldernell Pits. |
