2003
Common migrant breeder and common passage migrant.
The first bird of the year was at Ferry Meadows CP on 25 Mar (CP), with a steady increase during April, resulting in a peak count of 21+ at Orton BP on 17 Apr (SPD). The first juvenile was reported from Longthorpe on 27 Jul (GRH). The last record was of a single bird at Woodwalton Fen NNR on 4 Oct.

2002
Common migrant breeder and common passage migrant.
The first bird came from
Ferry Meadows CP on 31 Mar (DG). The peak count was of 11 there on 21 Apr (MJW); additional reports of five or more birds came from Eldernell, Barnack Hills & Holes NNR, Ferry Meadows CP and Great Morton Sale. At Ferry Meadows CP, seven were ringed on 22 Jul (CHu, KAF). A family party was seen at Deeping Lakes NR 2 Sep (WB) and 11 territories were held at Bedford Purlieus NNR (GW).
Two singing at
Ferry Meadows CP on 21 Sep (SPD) were the last of the year.

2001
Common migrant breeder and passage migrant.
This common migrant was widely distributed throughout the area throughout spring and summer following the first record at Orton Mere 27 Mar (GRH). High counts from
Ferry Meadows CP with 28 singing birds 29 Apr (GRH), 20+ 22 Apr (SPD); Bainton GP 15+ singing 8 Apr (BT).
Last recorded at
Ferry Meadows CP 10 Oct (SPD), a day after one at Morborne Hill (BHS).

2000
Common summer visitor.
First noted at
Ferry Meadows CP on 25 Mar, with the last record being two in Elton on 12 Sep. Counts of 30+ singing at Ferry Meadows CP on 19 Apr, and 17 at Orton BP on 25 Apr, were significant.

1999
Common summer visitor.
First returning birds were noted at
Orton Mere and Eldernell on 1 Apr. The latest record came from Ferry Meadows CP with two birds there on 26 Sep (TP). There were 16 singing birds at Bainton GP on 18 Apr (BT).

1998
Common summer visitor.
Early birds were recorded at
Orton Mere on 31 Mar (ARF) and Ferry Meadows CP on 1 Apr (RAH). There were 15 singing birds at Ferry Meadows CP on 28 Apr (GRH). Other birds were recorded at Milton Park, Morborne Hill, Maxey GP, Baston & Langtoft GP, Castor Hanglands NNR, Willow Hall Lane, Dogsthorpe and Dogsthorpe Star Pit NR. The last sighting was at Baston & Langtoft GP on 12 Sep (TW).
Nene Washes: First noted on 2 Apr. There was an obvious arrival on 27 Apr. Eldernell Pits held four territories, compared with one last season. A few single migrants were in reserve bushes throughout August.
